Privacy policy
Last updated:
This policy explains how Stellar Frontier, the mobile game published by Purple-Galaxy under its games brand Purple-Galaxy Studio, handles your personal data. It covers the game on Android and iOS and this website.
In short: we collect what the game needs to run: an account identifier, your player name, your game progress and technical diagnostics. The game also sends Meta some app events (install, launches, sessions) and your device's advertising ID, which Meta uses for its own purposes; you can reset or delete that ID in your device settings. The game shows no ads, we never collect your location, and we never sell your data. You can play as a guest, and you can ask us to delete your account at any time.

What we collect
Account identifiers
When you first open the game, Unity Gaming Services creates a player account with a random player ID. You can play as a guest with this anonymous account and nothing else.
If you choose to link a sign-in method, we also receive and store the identifier that provider gives for your account:
- Google Play Games (Android): your Play Games player ID and your Play Games display name.
- Google sign-in (on builds other than Android).
- Facebook Login: your app-scoped Facebook user ID. We only request Facebook's basic
public_profilepermission; we do not request your email, friends list or any other permission. - Sign in with Apple (iOS): your Apple user identifier.
Player name
The name you choose in the game, and your Play Games display name if you sign in with Play Games.
Email address and name
We do not collect your email address on Android. On iOS, Sign in with Apple may share your name and an email address (which can be a private relay address chosen by you). Google sign-in on builds other than Android can also share your name and email address. We use them only to identify your account.
Game progress
Your saved game (fleet, station, progress and settings synced to the cloud) and your balances of in-game currencies (Credits, Crystal and ProtoData). These currencies have no real-money value.
Diagnostics
Technical data collected by the Unity engine and the Unity Gaming Services SDKs to keep the game working: device model, operating system version, app version, crash reports and error logs.
App events and your advertising ID (Meta)
The game includes Meta's Facebook SDK. For every player, including those who never sign in with Facebook, it automatically sends Meta:
- app events: the installation, app launches, session starts and similar standard events;
- your device's advertising ID (the Android advertising ID; on iOS, Apple's advertising identifier, which Apple only makes available if you have allowed tracking for Stellar Frontier).
Meta uses this data for its own purposes as well, such as measuring and improving advertising. That makes it sharing your data with Meta, not only processing it on our behalf. See Meta's privacy policy.
How to limit it: you can reset or delete your advertising ID, and switch off ad personalisation, in your device settings (on Android: Settings → Google → All services → Ads; the exact path depends on your phone). Deleting the ID stops it being sent. You can also object to this sharing by writing to [email protected].
When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, so we can answer you.
What we do not collect
- Your precise or approximate location.
- Your contacts, photos, videos, files, microphone or camera.
- Chat or messages: the game has no chat.
- Ads inside the game: the game displays none. Meta may still use the app events and the advertising ID described above for its own advertising purposes.
- Payment information. The game currently has no purchases. If in-app purchases are added, payments will be handled by Google Play or the App Store, and this policy will be updated first.
Why we use your data and on what legal basis
| Purpose | Legal basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|
| Creating your account, signing you in, saving and syncing your progress, running the game and its in-game economy | Performance of the contract between you and us: the game's terms of service (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Diagnostics, fixing bugs, preventing cheating and abuse, keeping the service secure | Our legitimate interest in providing a stable and fair game (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Sending app events and the advertising ID to Meta, to measure installs and how the game is found and used | Our legitimate interest in understanding and promoting the game (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Answering your emails and handling your requests, including deletion requests | Our legitimate interest in answering you, and our legal obligations when you exercise your rights (Art. 6(1)(f) and (c)) |
You can object to the processing based on our legitimate interest at any time, including the sharing with Meta: write to [email protected], or delete your advertising ID in your device settings. We make no automated decisions about you, and we never sell or rent your data.
Who receives your data
We use the following providers. Each one processes data for the purpose described, under its own privacy policy:
- Unity Technologies (Unity Gaming Services: Authentication, Cloud Save, Cloud Code, Economy, and engine diagnostics). Hosts your account and your save. Unity privacy policy
- Google (Google Play Games Services and Google sign-in), only if you sign in with Google. Google privacy policy
- Meta Platforms: receives the app events and the advertising ID described above from every player, and uses them for its own purposes too. If you also choose Facebook Login, Meta knows that you used your Facebook account to sign in to Stellar Frontier. Meta privacy policy
- Apple (Sign in with Apple), only on iOS and only if you choose it. Apple privacy policy
We may also disclose data when the law requires it, for example to answer a valid request from a court or public authority.
Transfers outside the European Union
Some of these providers are based in, or use servers in, the United States and other countries outside the European Economic Area. These transfers rely on the safeguards provided by the GDPR, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, as described in each provider's privacy policy.
How long we keep your data
- Account, player name, game progress and currency balances: for as long as your account exists. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete them within 30 days.
- Diagnostics: kept by Unity for the time needed to analyse crashes and errors, under Unity's retention rules. Data that has been aggregated or anonymised, and no longer identifies you, may be kept after your account is deleted.
- App events and advertising ID: kept by Meta under its own retention rules, which we do not control. Deleting your Stellar Frontier account does not delete what Meta already received; use your device settings and Meta's own tools for that.
- Emails to support: for as long as needed to handle your request, then up to 3 years after our last exchange, so we can prove how a request (such as a deletion) was handled.
- Website server logs: see This website below.
Children
Stellar Frontier is intended for players aged 13 and over, as stated on its Google Play listing. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
If you are a parent or legal guardian and believe a child under 13 has played and given us personal data, write to [email protected] and we will delete it.
The game asks for as little as possible from younger players: you can play as a guest without giving any personal information, linking a Google, Facebook or Apple account is optional (Facebook itself requires its users to be at least 13), and there is no chat or any way to share personal information with other players.
Security
All communication between the game and our providers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Access to player data is limited to what is needed to run and support the game.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and the French Data Protection Act, you have the right to:
- access your data and get a copy of it;
- rectify data that is inaccurate;
- erase your data, including your whole account (see Delete your account);
- restrict or object to some processing;
- data portability: receive the data you provided in a structured, machine-readable format;
- give instructions about what happens to your data after your death.
To exercise a right, email [email protected] with your in-game player name and the way you sign in. We may ask for more information to confirm the account is yours. We answer within one month.
If you think your rights have not been respected, you can lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL: 3 place de Fontenoy, TSA 80715, 75334 Paris Cedex 07, France, www.cnil.fr. You can also contact the authority of the EU country where you live.
This website
This website (stellarfrontier.purple-galaxy.studio) uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party services. Fonts and images are served from our own server.
- If you use the light/dark switch, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage, on your device only. It is never sent to us.
- Like any web server, ours records technical access logs (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type) to keep the site secure and working. They are kept for up to 12 months and then deleted.
The site is hosted by Purple-Galaxy on its own infrastructure in France. See the legal notice.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy whenever the game starts handling data differently, for example if purchases are added. The date at the top shows the latest version. For important changes, we will also tell you in the game or on this website.
